EUGENIA ‘JEAN’ ALEEN NEWLIN Mrs. Eugenia “Jean” Newlin, age 86 of Wharton passed away on Thursday, April 5, 2012, in a Wharton nursing facility following a lengthy illness. She was born on July 25, 1925 in Iago, Texas a daughter of the late Eugene and Emma Aleen Abendroth Lyons. Mrs. Newlin was a lifelong resident of Wharton County. She graduated from Wharton Schools in 1943. On December 25, 1942, she married Adolph Newlin in Bay City. He preceded her in death after 48 years of marriage on December 22, 1990. Jean worked as a seamstress most of her life. Jean loved to read, sew and work crosswords puzzels. She was a member of First Baptist Church. In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by her sisters, Lottie Crofton and Charlene Lyons, and son in law, Terry L. Toney. Visitation was held on Friday evening, April 6 at the Wharton Funeral Home. Funeral services are to be held on Saturday, April 7, 2012 at 11:00 am at the Chapel of Wharton Funeral Home with Dr. Donnie Melton officiating. Burial will follow in the Evergreen Memorial Park Cemetery in Wharton. Survivors include her daughters, Kay Adams of Wharton and Lou Ann Arth and husband Ross of College Station, sons, James Newlin of New Mexico and Glenn Newlin and wife, Debbie of Wharton, brother, Bobby Lyons and wife, Shirley of Katy and grandchildren, Robert Adams and wife, Stephanie, Ross Adams and wife, Michelle, Randy Adams and wife, Robin, Ronnie Adams and wife, Becca, Jim Newlin and wife, Jeanne, Justin Newlin and wife, Jessica, Anette Lee, and husband, Marcus, Stephanie Miller, Stacey Macik and husband, Kevin and Shelley Cruz and husband, Micheal. She is also survived by her Great Grandchildren Kylee, Cade, and Kamryn Adams, Hunter and Haleigh Adams, Zachary and Makayleigh Adams, Hannah, Amanda, Madison and Wyatt Adams, Ashlyn, Katelynn and Brooklynne Miller, Blair Macik, Caden Cruz, Britni and Nathan Newlin, Harrison, Preston and Caroline Lee, and Timothy, Gabriel and Victoria Newlin, and numerous nieces and nephews. Pallbearers will be her grandchildren.
