Steven Grier

Steven L. Grier Mr. Steven Lee Grier, age 50 of Palacios and a former long-time Wharton resident died Sunday, April 15, 2012 in Bay City, TX following a sudden illness. He was born on September 25, 1961 in Houston, TX the son of the late Donald Eugene Grier and Peggy Laura Ziegler Grier. Mr. Grier was a graduate of Wharton High School and employed as a heavy equipment operator for Tanner Construction Co. in Ganado, TX. He was preceded in death by his mother, Peggy Cook in December 2011 and his father Donald Grier in March 2012. He married Mary L. Ingram on April 14, 2012 in Palacios, TX and was Christian by Faith. Steve loved the outdoors and was an avid hunter and fisherman. He was an all around cowboy and a former Bull Rider. Funeral services were held at 11:00 am Friday, April 20, 2012, at the Chapel of the Wharton Funeral Home with Rev. Terry Bozarth officiating.. Following cremation, Steve will be buried next to his Mother. Survivors include his wife, Mary Ingram Grier of Palacios, TX; a daughter and his long time bird son “Tiki”. Several aunts, uncles and cousins also survive. Honorary Pallbearers were Joe Dominguez, Desi Garcia, Dale Armstrong, Edward Richter, Jerry Gafford, Jr., Randy Waters, David Garza, and Kelly Cook. In lieu of usual remembrances the family requests memorials to Houston Hospice of El Campo, P.O. Box 1417, El Campo, TX 77437. Funeral services were under the direction of the Wharton Funeral Home, Inc.
