Ruby Lee Roberts

Ruby Lee Roberts Mrs. Ruby Lee Roberts, age 86 of Corpus Christi and formerly of Wharton, died Friday evening, June 22, 2012 in Corpus Christi. She was born on June 30, 1925 in North Little Rock, Arkansas a daughter of the late Matt Wright and Eliza Alice Logan Wright. Mrs. Roberts grew up in the North Little Rock, Arkansas and graduated from high school there. On June 3, 1945 she married Rev. Orville H. Roberts in North Little Rock. He preceded her in death on December 3, 2005. She worked as a secretary for the Coastal Plains Baptist Area for many years. In addition to this, she was a full time pastor’s wife, helping with anything that needed to be done around and in the church. Mrs. Roberts was preceded in death by her sister, Elsie Barnett and brothers, William R. Wright and Robert E. Wright and grandson, Curtis Moritz, in addition to her parents and husband. Visitation was held on Wednesday evening, June 27, 2012 at the Wharton Funeral Home with funeral services held at Thursday, June 28 at First Baptist Church in Wharton with Rev. Rick DuBroc officiating. Burial followed in the Evergreen Memorial Park Cemetery. Survivors include daughters, Glenda Kay Stanton and husband, Jerry of Corpus Christi and Lisa Ann Moritz and husband, Michael of Beatrice, Nebraska and son, Darrell Dean Roberts and wife, Teresa of Edmond, Oklahoma, grandchildren, Robert Moritz, Chad Alan Roberts, Kirstin Hesskew and Jeremy Stanton and step grandsons, Gerald, Brad and Randy Stanton along with great grandchildren, Abbey Roberts, Ryan Roberts, Kaleb Hesskew and Arin Hesskew along with 17 step great grandchildren.. Pallbearers were Michael Moritz, Robert Moritz, Charles Moritz, Jeremy Stanton, Jerry Stanton, Bill Kirkpatrick and Herb McCown. Serving as honorary pallbearers were Chad Roberts and Albert Hesskew. In lieu of usual remembrances the family requests memorials to River Hills Baptist Church, PO Box 260200, Corpus Christi, Texas 78426 or First Baptist Church, 507 Fulton, Wharton Texas 77488 Funeral services were under the direction of the Wharton Funeral Home.
