JOE RODRIGUEZ Mr. Joe Rodriguez, age 86 of Wharton died Wednesday, June 27, 2012 in a Wharton nursing center following a lengthy illness. He was born on December 5, 1925 in Giddings, TX a son of the late Frank and Evanjelina Trevino Rodriguez. Mr. Rodriguez was a long-time resident of Wharton and attended Our Lady of Mount Carmel Catholic Church. He enjoyed listening to his favorite radio programs. In addition to his parents, Joe was preceded in death by his siblings, Agapita Trevino, Betty Sagala and Jesse Rodriguez. A visitation was held at Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church Thursday evening, June 28th and funeral services were held at 10:00 am Friday, June 29th at Our Lady of Mount Carmel Catholic Church with Father Gabriel Espinosa officiating. Burial followed in the Evergreen Memorial Park Cemetery in Wharton. Survivors include his sisters, Mary Perez of Wharton, Frank RodriguezII of Egypt, Connie Rodriguez fo Wharton, Eva Perez and husband, Tony of Yoakum, and Lucy Kijek and husband, Greg of Portland, Oregon. Numerous nieces, nephews and cousins also survive. Funeral services were under the direction of the Wharton Funeral Home.
