Evangeline Garcia

Evangeline Garcia Evangeline Garcia, age 60, of Sugar Land and formerly of Wharton, died Friday, June 29, 2012 in a Houston hospice facility following an extended illness. She was born on March 14, 1952 in Wharton, Texas, a daughter of the late Jose Garcia and Victoria Huerta Garcia. Evangeline was raised in the Wharton area and graduated from Wharton High School. She completed her education with a Bachelors degree from Southwest Texas State and became a teacher. She enjoyed teaching English as a Second Language to many children in the 1st, 2nd and 5th grades in the Sugar Land area for over 25 years. Following Cremation, memorial services will be held on Thursday, July 5, 2012 at 10 am at the chapel of Wharton Funeral Home with Rev. Gabriel Espinosa officiating. Survivors include her sisters, Hermelinda Howell and husband, Gary, Ercilia Herrera and husband, Angel and Asusena “Susie” Garcia, and brothers, Jose H. Garcia, Jr. and wife, Naomi and Walberto “Wally” Garcia, and numerous nieces and nephews. Funeral services were under the direction of the Wharton Funeral Home.
