In later years she was always a regular at the Wednesday morning Bible Study at the Abell St. Church of Christ where she was a member for over thirty years. Virginia was quite the seamstress affording the enjoyment of dressing "homemade" while exhibiting a style that kept saying "store bought". She spent many years being informally known as the "Assistant Golf Coach" at the University of Houston, being such an asset for decades to her husband Coach Dave Williams. Together they were able to travel over the entire United States, Japan, Scotland and Mexico with the University of Houston Golf Team. Her family came to rely on her wit, intellect, steely perception and uncanny ability to always verbally define any moment or situation with polite deftness. A visitation will be held at the Wharton Funeral Home located at 515 E. Boling Hwy. in Wharton on Sunday evening, July 15 from 6:00-8:00 P.M.
