MAX E. SIMPSON

Max E. Simpson Mr. Max Earl Simpson, age 89 of Boling died Wednesday, July 4, 2012 at his residence following an extended illness. He was born on August 6, 1922 in Winkler, Texas the son of the late Pinkney M. Simpson and Elma Rouse Simpson. Mr. Simpson was a graduate of Streetman High School and served in the U.S. Army during World War II. He married Ima Jo Craig on October 11, 1942 in Fairfield, TX and she preceded him in death on November 24, 2002. He was also preceded in death by his parents and an infant brother. He worked for Texasgulf Sulphur starting in 1950 and retired as a maintenance foreman in 1982. While at TGS he played baseball for the company baseball team. Mr. Simpson has been a resident of Boling since 1950 and was Baptist by Faith. He was also a member of the Wharton Masonic Lodge AF & AM. He coached little league baseball and was an avid golfer, hunter and fisherman. Funeral services were held at 2:00 pm on Saturday, July 7, 2012 at the Chapel of the Wharton Funeral Home with Rev. Skip Holman officiating. Burial followed in the Evergreen Memorial Park Cemetery in Wharton. Survivors include his sons and daughters-in-law; David & Carol Simpson of Pledger and James & Joy Simpson of Boling; sister, Mary Nell Van Dyke of Winkler, TX; grandchildren; Scott, Craig & Neil Simpson and Melanie Garrett; great grandchildren are Colby, Logan, Cade, Carly & Jake Simpson and Jett & Jace Garrett. Pallbearers were Scott Simpson, Craig Simpson, Neil Simpson, Brad Van Dyke, Jimmy Folmar and Larry Folmar. Honorary Pallbearers were all of his many friends and neighbors. In lieu of usual remembrances the family requests memorials to your favorite charity or church. Funeral services were under the direction of the Wharton Funeral Home.
