EMMA BURNS Mrs. Emma Mildred Burns, age 93 of Boling died Wednesday, July 11, 2012 in a Wharton Hospital following an extended illness. She was born on May 28, 1919 in East Columbia, TX the daughter of the late Charles Henry Bertram and Clara Stiegert Bertram. Mrs. Burns has been a resident of Boling since 1945 and was a charter Member of the First Baptist Church in Boling. She married Harold Clenton Burns on April 28, 1938 in Angleton, Texas and he preceded her in death on October 23, 1972. She enjoyed gardening and raising and selling plants. She was an active member of the First Baptist Church in Boling for many years. Funeral services were held at 2:00 pm Friday, July 13, 2012 at the Crossroads Community Fellowship Church in Boling with Rev. Skip Holman officiating. Burial followed in the Evergreen Memorial Park Cemetery in Wharton. Survivors include her sons and daughters-in-law; Frank D. & Gayle Burns of Houston, Harold C. & Jean Burns of Willis, TX, James Michael & Nancy Burns of Graceville, FL., Charles L. & Ann Burns of Comfort, TX and George and Paula Burns of Wharton; sister, Anna Marie Aiken of Georgetown, TX; brother, Ernest Bertram of Pearland, TX; six grandchildren and seven great grandchildren. Several nieces and nephews also survive. Special recognition to her caregivers, Raquel Flores and Janath Palmer. Pallbearers were her sons, Frank D. Burns, Harold C. Burns, James Michael Burns, Charles L. Burns, George Burns, Brian Burns and Brant Burns. Funeral services were under the direction of the Wharton Funeral Home.
