Albert “Dude” “Bulo” Curtis Mr. Albert Curtis, age 90 of Wharton passed away on Sunday, August 19, 2012 at home following an extended illness. He was born on November 9, 1921 in Wharton County, TX the son of the late Garfield Curtis, Sr. and Rosalee Dickerson. Mr. Curtis was a life-long resident of Wharton and a member of Our Lady Of Mt. Carmel Catholic Church in Wharton. He worked as a custodian for Wharton ISD for many years until his retirement. Bulo enjoyed fishing, cooking, gardening, and spending time with his grandchildren. One of his favorite past times was making his special recipe for cornbread. He also enjoyed playing slot machines and dominos. He was especially close to the Larry Ferrel family and he helped raise numerous of the Ferrel family members. In addition to his parents, Albert was preceded in death by brother Garfield Curtis, Jr., and sisters, Corabell Curtis, Eula Mae Ross, and Lillian Curtis. Funeral Mass was held on Wednesday, August 22, 2012 at 10:00 am at Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Catholic Church in Wharton with Father Gabriel Espinosa officiating. Burial followed in the Evergreen Memorial Park Cemetery. A visitation and Rosary were held the night before at the Wharton Funeral Home. Survivors include his step-son, B alentin (Larry) Ferrel of Wharton, step-grandchildren, Michael Ferrel, Belia Rodriguez, Hector Ferrel, and Albert Ferrel, step-great grandchildren, Drew Ferrel, Michaela Ferrel, Noah Martinez, Isaac Martinez, Brianna Martinez, Nathan Ferrel, Nicholas Ferrel, Gabriel Ferrel, Albert Caleb Ferrel, and Alexander Xavier Ferrel, sisters, Alma Curtis, Linda Black, Alene Collins, Zelma Perkins, and Queen Ester Tisdale. Numerous nieces and nephews also survive. Pallbearers were Michael Ferrel, Hector Ferrel, Eliseo Hernandez, Richard Alcalar, Jeremy Curtis, and Robert Vandagriff. Honorary Pallbearers were Samuel Rodriguez, Ysmael Rodriguez, Ramon Rodriguez, and Bennie Ferrel. If desiring, memorials made be made to Our Lady of Mt.
