Dorothy Ann Soderman Mrs. Dorothy Ann Soderman, of Angleton and formerly of Newgulf, Rockport, and Wharton, died Sunday evening, September 2, in Angleton. She was born on February 28, 1930 in El Campo, Texas, the daughter of the late Charles O. Vess and Bennie Wright Vess. Dot was raised in the El Campo area and graduated from El Campo High. She was very active in the school as a youngster, even becoming a cheerleader. She attended Texas A&I University for a short time before her marriage to Byron N. Soderman on June 19, 1949 in El Campo. He preceded her in death on October 26, 2005. Dot was a homemaker all of her adult life and worked for the U.S. Census Bureau in 1960 and 1970. She enjoyed playing bridge, mahjong and cards, and fishing with her family. Some of her favorite times were spent traveling to China, Germany, and the Mediterranean with her husband. In addition to her parents and husband, she was also preceded in death by her brother, Charles O. Vess, Jr. Funeral services are planned for Saturday, September 8 at 10 am at Wharton Funeral Home with Rev. Don Storey officiating. Burial will follow in the Evergreen Memorial Park Cemetery. Survivors include her children, Ann Soderman of Houston, Carl Soderman and wife, Alice of Denver, Colorado, and Charles A. Soderman, Sr. and wife, Debbie of West Columbia, sister in law, Margaret Howard of Austin, nephews Byron Howard, Joseph Howard, John Vess, and Michael Vess, grandchildren, Kristine Johnson and husband Gabe, Chad Soderman, Charles Soderman, Jr., Samuel Soderman and wife Holly, Joseph Soderman, Beverly Hopkins and husband Tim, Adam Walters and wife Kristina, Emily Walters, Kimberly Onxley and husband Joseph, Eric Soderman, and Cara Soderman, and 15 great grandchildren. Pallbearers are Chad Soderman, Samuel Soderman, Eric Soderman, Adam Walters, Tim Hopkins, and Joseph Onxley. Serving as honorary pallbearers are Joseph Soderman, Charles Soderman, Jr., Gabe Johnson, and Edgar Roades.
