Basilio Flores Mr. Basilio Flores, age 85 of Spanish Camp, died on Sunday evening, September 2, 2012 in a Houston hospital following a brief illness. He was born on April 15, 1927 in Glen Flora, Texas to the late George and Florencia Flores. Basilio was raised in the Spanish Camp area. He worked as a farmer for many years in Spanish Camp, Bonus and surrounding areas. He married Manuela Rios. He enjoyed rasing his chickens, watching his grandchildren and great grandchildren grow and having “Guy Time” with his sons, grandsons and great grandsons. In addition to his parents and wife, Basilio was preceded in death by his daughter, Beatrice Tovar and son, Braulio Flores. Funeral services were held Thursday, September 6, 2012 at 10:00 am at the chapel of Wharton Funeral Home with Father Gabriel Espinosa officiating. A rosary and visitation was held the evening before at Wharton Funeral Home. Burial followed in the Glen Flora Cemetery in Cresent. Survivors include his daughters, Manuela Leal and husband, Juan of El Campo, Dahlia Smith and husband, Marvin of Spanish Camp, and Louisa Solis and husband, Louis of El Campo, sons, Manuel Flores and wife, Josephina, Basilio Flores Jr. and wife Antonia and Jessie Flores and wife, Tina all of Spanish Camp. He is also survived by 25 grandchildren, numerous great grandchildren and many nieces, nephews, and friends. Pallbearers were Francisco Ortiz, Juan Leal, Rudy Leal, Braulio Flores, Matthew Flores, Bernardo Trevino, Jr., Jessie Guzman and Frank Flores.
