Melba H. Koym

Melba H. Koym Mrs. Melba H. Koym, age 82 of East Bernard died Tuesday, August 28, 2012 in Wharton following an extended illness. She was born on January 4, 1930 in Brazoria Co., TX, the daughter of Marcus Hughes and Minnie Anderson Hughes Mrs. Koym was a graduate of West Columbia High School. She was the owner and operator of Elite Play Care Center in Pasadena, TX for over twenty years until her retirement in 2008. She was a former resident of Friendswood and a member of the First United Methodist Church in East Bernard. Her favorite hobby was working with show horses. She was preceded in death by her husband, Hank Koym in 2003. Shje was also preceded in death by a sister, Betty Jo Lloyd and a granddaughter, Jamie Sorensen. Following Cremation, memorial services will be held at 2:00 pm TODAY, Saturday, September 8, 2012 at the Wharton Funeral Home. Survivors include her daughters, Patricia O’Connor of Wharton and Cynthia Kruppa of Palacios, TX; sons, Marcus Menefee of Edna, TX and Michael Menefee of San Antonio. Six grandchildren and five great grandchildren also survive. In lieu of usual remembrances the family requests memorials to Houston Hospice of El Campo, P.O. Box 1417, El Campo, TX 77437. Funeral services are under the direction of the Wharton Funeral Home.
