Margaret C. Lane Mrs. Margaret Christine Lane, age 100 of Wharton died early Friday morning September 28, 2012 at her residence. She was born on March 24, 1912 in Houston, TX the daughter of the late Frank McDent and Mary Prasatik McDent. She was the matriarch of the Lane family. She was a graduate of Wharton High School in 1930 and Durham’s Business College in Houston. She was a long-time resident of Wharton and a member of the First United Methodist Church in Wharton. She married T. W. (Buckshot) Lane on November 12, 1932 in Wharton and he preceded her in death on July 10, 1991. She was also preceded in death by a son, Jimmy Tinsley Lane, grandson, Kevin Lane and granddaughter, Lisa Marie Lane. Her passions in life included dancing, playing bridge and above all her family. Graveside services and interment were held at 2:30 pm Tuesday, October 2, 2012 at the Wharton City Cemetery with The Reverend Dr. Robert Johnston officiating. Survivors include her sons and daughter-in-law, William G. & Barbara Lane of Rockport, TX and Tommy M. Lane of Wharton; grandchildren and spouses Mary Lynn Wolf, Lynda & Tim Pelischek, Lana & Toma Harrison and James Lane, Jr. Six Great Grandchildren also survive. In lieu of usual remembrances the family requests memorials to the First United Methodist Church, 1717 Pioneer, Wharton, TX 77488 or the charity of your choice. The family would like to thank her special caregivers, Mary Ann Torres, Mary Louise Valles, Ofelia Mata, Patsy Pena, Houston Hospice of El Campo and all of the others who have helped care for her through the years. Funeral services were under the direction of the Wharton Funeral Home.
