Dorothy Mildred Rachunek Mrs. Dorothy Mildred Rachunek, age 86 of Wharton passed away on Thursday, October 18, 2012 in a Wharton Hospital following a sudden illness. She was born on February 24, 1926 in Wharton the daughter of the late Elo John Stolle and Leona Ullmann Stolle. Mrs. Rachunek was a life long resident of Wharton County and a member of St. John’s Catholic Church in Hungerford. She was also a member of the Catholic Daughters, the Ladies Auxiliary of American Legion Post 87 of Wharton, the Dance Club and was known to be the fastest potato peeler in Wharton County. She married Anton John Rachunek on September 1, 1948 in Wharton and he preceded her in death on June 3, 1998. She was also preceded in death by a son, Anthony Rachunek A Rosary was held on Friday evening at 7:00 pm at the chapel of the Wharton Funeral Home and a Funeral Mass held at 10:00 am Saturday, October 20, 2012 at St. John’s Catholic Church in Hungerford with Father Charles Dwomah officiating and assisted by Father Dominic Antwi-Boasiako and Father Henry Rachunek. Burial followed in the St. John’s Catholic Cemetery in Hungerford. Survivors include daughters and sons-in-law, Linda & Jimmy Dixon and Rita Kacal all of Wharton, Diane Chapman of Alvin, TX and Mary Allen of Rockport, TX. Sons and daughters-in-law, Dennis Rachunek and Jana, Kenneth Rachunek, Timothy Rachunek and Laurianne and David Rachunek and Carol all of Wharton; sister and brother-in-law, Evelyn & James Ferguson of Wharton; brothers and sisters-in-law, Elo and Helen Stolle and Edward and Susan Stolle all of Wharton; twenty grandchildren, eighteen great grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews also survive. Pallbearers were Michael Dixon, Chris Pilkington, Ross Pilkington, Brett Rachunek, Chad Allen, Adam Rachunek, Nicholas Kacal and Branden Rachunek. In lieu of usual remembrances the family requests memorials to the Wharton County Library, 1920 N. Fulton, Wharton, TX 77488 or St. Philip Catholic School in El Campo,TX. Funeral services were under the direction of the Wharton Funeral Home.
