Beatrice Grace Appier Beatrice Grace Appier, age 89, of Wharton, died Saturday October 13, 2012 in a Sugarland hospital following a brief illness. She was born on March 13, 1923 in Magnet, a daughter of the late Anton Berberich and Catherine Rimmer Berberich. Beatrice attended Magnet schools. She married Paul Appier in 1950 and he preceded her in death in 1974. She worked as a nurses aide at Wharton Manor for many years. In her later years, Beatrice and her sister, Juanita, operated a child care out of their home. Beatrice, or Aunt Babe as she was known enjoyed the out of doors, watching baseball, fishing and yard work. In addition to her parents and husband, she was also preceded in death by her sister, Juanita Blumberg, and brother, Sidney Berberich. Funeral services were held on Tuesday, October 16, 2012 at Wharton Funeral Home at 11 am with Rev. Don Hurley officiating. Burial followed in the Wharton City Cemetery in Wharton. Survivors include her sister in law, Clara Berberich of Wharton, nephews, Ronald Berberich and wife, Mary of El Campo, Mike Berberich of The Woodlands, Kenny Hall and wife, Dyna of Blessing, Ricky Hall of San Antonio, and many great nieces and nephews and several great great nieces and nephews. Pallbearers were Bobby Buff, Ken Durr, Greg Leopold, Greg Montello, Trey Wilson and Russell Durr. .
