Virginia McVey

June 3, 1927 — November 3, 2012

Mrs. Virginia Maud Yeamans McVey, age 85 of Boling, passed away peacefully Saturday, November 3, 2012 at her home following a courageous battle with renal cell cancer. She was born on June 3, 1927 in Gulf, Texas the daughter of the late Dewey Yeamans and Willie Christine Smith Yeamans. Mrs. McVey graduated from Boling high School in 1944 and was a member of the Abell Street Church of Christ in Wharton. She married Harold Ray McVey on January 10, 1947 in Wharton and he preceded her in death on September 7, 2007. An infant brother, Dewey M. Yeamans, also preceded her in death. She worked as a bookkeeper with the Boling I.S.D. for twenty-eight years until her retirement in 1996. She enjoyed being with her family and was an avid cook and baker. She loved all animals especially her cats. Friends may call for visitation from 6:00 pm to 9:00 pm Wednesday, November 7, 2012 at the Wharton Funeral Home. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 pm Thursday, November 8, 2012 at the Wharton Funeral Home Chapel with Mr. Paul Jones officiating. Burial will follow in the Evergreen Memorial Park Cemetery in Wharton. Survivors include her daughters and sons-in-law, Pam & Robert E. Moss of Fairchilds, TX and Vicki & William Counce Brod of Boling, TX; Brother-in-law and wife, Fred and Bertha Rudin of Houston, TX; grandchildren & spouses, William Ray & Emily Brod, April Denise Brod, Robert Michael Moss and Amanda Raye Moss Warncke & her husband, Sean; and great grandchildren, Brendon Warncke and Gavin Warncke. Pallbearers will be William Counce Brod, William Ray Brod, Michael Rudin, Fred Rudin, James Bullock and Allen Dale Ferrell. Honorary Pallbearers will be Robert E. Moss, Robert Michael Moss, Dr. Peter Erikson, and Leonard Wittig. In lieu of usual remembrances the family requests memorials to the American Cancer Society or the American Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals. The family wishes to express a heartfelt thank you to Anna and Angel Garibaldi, Versa Jones, Diane Silvas, Barbara Anderson, the nurses at the Houston Hospice/ El Campo, the loving, caring staff at the Methodist Sugar Land Hospital and Dr. Charles Conlon’s office, and to her closest and dearest friend, Bonnie Ferrell, who always took time from her day to spend with their Mother and Grandmother. The family greatly appreciates all who visited and helped with her care.
