Julia Garza, age 83 of East Bernard, died Friday, November 30, 2012 at her residence in Wharton surrounded by family, following a lengthy illness. She was born on January 9, 1929 in Kenedy, Texas a daughter of the late Pedro and Concepcion Rios Ruiz. Julia was raised in the Kenedy area and attended school there. She married Lino Garza, Sr in Kenedy. He preceded her in death on December 5, 1998. Julia enjoyed her garden and housework, she also enjoyed watching football and baseball. She was a member of Holy Cross Catholic Church in East Bernard. A rosary was recited Sunday evening, December 2, at Holy Cross Catholic Church and a funeral mass will be held at 10:00 am Monday, December 3, 2012 at Holy Cross Catholic Church in East Bernard with Father Don Ruppert officiating. Burial followed in the Holy Cross Cemetery in East Bernard. Survivors include daughter, Teodora Lozano and husband Rudy of East Bernard, son, Lino Garza Jr., of East Bernard, sisters, Manuela Perales of Kenedy and Janie Arreazola, brothers, Andres Ruiz of San Antonio, Guadalupe Ruiz of San Antonio, Ignacio Ruiz of Cibilo and Juan Ruiz of Wharton, grandchildren, Rae Hernandez, Renae Hernandez, Rodney Lozano, Randell Lozano, Daphne Fucik, Richard Garza, Eric Garza, and Clayton Garza, great grandchildren, Kourtney, Elena, Erin, Sara, Breann, Sabrina, Sybil, Samantha, Camden, Elena, and Mateo. Many cousins, friends and family members also survive. Pallbearers will be Eric Garza, Clayton Garza, Rodney Lozano, Randel Lozano, Rick Hernandez and Richard Garza.
