Judy Mae Jarvela

Judy Mae Jarvela, age 76 of Wharton died Tuesday, January 1, 2013, at her residence following a lengthy illness, surrounded by her loving family. She was born on July 11, 1936 in Ogden, Utah, daughter of Dean and Elizabeth Brown Richards. Judy was raised in Utah and attended school there. She was married to Gene Jarvela on December 18, 1952 in Ogden Utah. He preceded her in death on May 14, 1999. Judy was a military wife for 20 years. She traveled with her husband and family across the United States, wherever they were stationed. She enjoyed raising her children, becoming involved with their endeavors and later, her grandchildren and great grandchildren. Judy became active in the Wharton County SHARE program, even serving as the head of the local program for one year. She attended community Bible study and helped research the Bible with the group. She was a member of First Presbyterian Church in Wharton. Following Cremation, memorial services were held at 6:00 PM Thursday evening, January 3, 2013, at the First Presbyterian Church in Wharton with Rev. Debbie Cenko officiating. Survivors inclulde her sons, Michael D. Jarvela and wife, Susan of Green Bay, WI, Rob Jarvela and Gene “Skip” Jarvela both of Wharton, daughters, Tamara Busby of Breckenridge, TX, Tina Jarvela of Wharton, grandchildren, Michael Paul and wife, Jessica, Nichole, David, Joshua and wife, Diana, Valerie, Justin, Hope, Jake, Anthony and Ryley along with great grandchildren, Dylan, Mayci, Lily, Jackson and Roy. In lieu of usual remembrances the family requests memorials to the First Presbyterian Church, 1602 John Knox, Wharton, TX 77488, or to the charity of your choice.
