Jean Otey Guill, age 70 of Boling passed away Sunday, February 3, 2013, at a Houston Hospice facility following a lengthy illness, surrounded by her loving family. She was born on October 11, 1942 in Abingdon, Virginia, a daughter of the late Eugene Otey and Hazel Mann Otey. Jean was raised in Virginia and graduated from school there. She was married to Edwin Carson Guill on August 23, 1962 in Abingdon, Virginia. He preceded her in death on March 4, 2011. Jean worked as a school cafeteria manager for many years before retiring in 2008. She worked in the Boling ISD and Wharton ISD for many years. Jean enjoyed shopping at garage sales, going to the local Dollar General and Dollar Tree, Gatherings with friends and family and reality shows on television. Jean was very active in Iago Federated Church, singing in the choir for many years. Following Cremation, memorial services were held at 10:00 AM Friday morning, February 8, 2013, at the Iago Federated Church in Iago with Rev. John Turner officiating. Survivors inclulde her daughter, Edie Bermudes and husband, Tito of Boling, sons, Eddie Guill, Jr. of Boling and Robert A. Guill and wife, Jennifer of Hutto, sisters, Louise Taylor and husband, Charlie, and Sue Stewart and husband, Robey, brothers, Doug Otey, Robert Wayne Otey, Kenny Otey, Jim Otey, Don Otey, Sam Otey and wife, Lisa, and Gilmer Otey and wife, Joyce. Her grandsons, Dallas Guill and Brandon Bermudes also survive. Her sisters in law, Sherry Glenn and Clyda Graves both of Boling and Alma McEntire of Brazoria, brother in law, Andy Guill and wife, Beth of Angleton and many nieces and nephews that loved her dearly also survive. Jean leaves fond memories to her best friend, Mamie Charles. In lieu of usual remembrances the family requests memorials to the Houston Solari Hospice, 6800 West Loop South, Suite 250, Bellaire, Texas 77401.
