Susie Mary Mata

Mrs. Susie Mary Cerrillo Mata, age 82 of Wharton died Thursday, January 24, 2013 in a Wharton Nursing home following an extended illness. She was born on April 30, 1930 in Wharton the daughter of the late Felipe Cerrillo and Juanita Perez Cerrillo. Mrs. Mata was a life-long resident of Wharton and a member of Mt. Carmel Catholic Church in Wharton. She married Gil Mata on December 17, 1945 in Wharton and he preceded her in death on March 10, 2002. She was also preceded in death by two daughters, Sandra Mata and Mary Alice Alameda, a son, David Mata, two sisters, Beatrice Macias and Cuca Alvarado and two brothers, John and Fernando Cerrillo. A Rosary was recited Sunday evening, January 27, 2013 at the chapel of the Wharton Funeral Home and a Funeral Mass was held at 10:00 am Monday, January 28, 2013 at Mt. Carmel Catholic Church in Wharton with Father Gabriel Espinosa officiating. Burial followed in the Evergreen Memorial Park Cemetery in Wharton. Survivors include daughters and sons-in-law, Janie Valdez and Roy Rodriguez of El Campo, Rosa Mata and Robert Sosa of Wharton, Sonya and Desi Garcia of Wharton and Stacy Aguilar of Wharton; sons and daughters-law, Gil C. Mata of Wharton, Rudolph and Millie Mata of El Campo, and Mark and Vickie Mata of Wharton. Thirteen Grandchildren, numerous great grandchildren and numerous great, great grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews also survive. Pallbearers were; Richard, Ronnie, Jerry and Frank Valdez, Omar Mata, John Cerrillo and Douglas Mata. Honorary Pallbearers were Ernest Longoria and Fernando Cerrillo. Memorials may be made to ; Mt. Carmel Catholic Church, 506 S. East Ave, Wharton, TX 77488.
