Christine Havins

Christine Bailey Havins passed into the arms of our LORD on February 9, 2013 after a brief stay at Wharton Manor and Rehabilitation. She was born August 11, 1930 to Katie Vice Bailey and Jessie Bailey in their home in Beckville, Texas. Christine is preceded in death by her mother and father, brother J.L. Bailey, formerly from Brenham, Texas, and nephew, Max Stripling of Nacogdoches, Texas. Christine was born in the Beckville, Texas area and graduated high school there. She attended Panola Co. Jr College. Mrs. Havins was married to William Leonard Havins on October 20, 1951 in Beckville. She was a homemaker all her life. She enjoyed music, and loved Sudoku puzzles. Christine was a member of First United Methodist Church in Wharton for many years. She is survived by her husband of 61 years, Bill Havins; children Janice Havins Hamric (Steve) of Katy, Texas and Debrah Havins Boerner (Bob) of Boerne, Texas; grandchildren Christine Lee Halsey (Kent McAllister) of San Felipe, Texas and Holly Brooke Boerner of Houston, Texas; great granddaughter Justice Lee Halsey; sister Maxine Stripling (Bill) of Nacogdoches and brother Joe Frank Bailey (Judy) of Keithville, Louisiana; nieces Dee Stripling and Jill Garsee; and nephew Scott Bailey. Visitation will begin at 1:00 pm Saturday, February 16, 2013 with funeral services held at 2:00 pm, at the chapel of Wharton Funeral Home in Wharton with Rev. Paul Helbig and Rev. Meredith Wende officiating. Burial will follow in the Evergreen Memorial Park Cemetery in Wharton.
