Margie Willrich, age 70 of Wharton, passed away Monday morning, February 18, 2013 at Gulf Coast Medical Center following a brief illness. She was born on May 12, 1942 in Matagorda County, the daughter of Walter and Marie Wheat Gavender. Margie was raised in the Bay City area and graduated from Bay City High School. She worked as a cook, waitress and bartender all her life. Margie enjoyed cooking for her friends and family. She was Catholic by faith. Visitation will be held on Wednesday evening, February 20 from 7 till 9 pm at Wharton Funeral Home. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 pm Thursday, February 21, 2013 at the chapel of the Wharton Funeral Home with Mr. Dan Haby officiating. Burial will follow in the Evergreen Memorial Park Cemetery in Wharton. Survivors include her daughter, Lynn Watson and husband, Jimmy of Guy, and son, George ‘Buckwheat’ Willrich of Wharton and grandchildren, Brent Ray Watson and Haverty Watson, and a host of friends and extended family. Pallbearers are Jason Waller, Paul White, Joe Beaver, John Steen, T Bone Valenta and Tommy Watson.
