Alva Gonzales

Mrs. Alva Gonzales, age 78 of Glen Flora died Monday, March 4, 2013 in a Wharton Nursing Home following an extended illness. She was born on December 7, 1934 in Karnes City, TX the daughter of the late Santos and Ignacia Garcia. Mrs. Gonzales has been a resident of Glen Flora most of her life and was a member of Mt. Carmel Catholic Church in Wharton. She married John Gonzales, Jr. on March 3, 1953 in Wharton and he preceded her in death on February 25, 1999. She was also preceded in death by three sisters, Alicia, Amelia and Armandina and three brothers, Salvadore, Santos and Joe. She was a homemaker and loved gardening, growing flowers and canning. She also loved to cook and bake. A Rosary was recited Thursday evening, March 7th at the Wharton Funeral Home and a Funeral Mass was held at 10:00 am Friday, March 8, 2013 at Mt. Carmel Catholic Church in Wharton with Father Gabriel Espinosa officiating. Burial followed in the Glen Flora Cemetery. Survivors include daughters and sons-in-law, Rebecca Jimenes of Glen Flora, TX, Terry and Michael Morales of Eagle Lake and Debra and George Cervantes of Houston and sons, Richard Gonzales and Ronnie and Darlene Gonzales both of Glen Flora. Grandchildren, Misty Morales, Michael Morales, Timothy Morales, Jacob Bartley and Shelby Gonzales and great granddaughter, Audrina Ephran. Pallbearers were; A. J. Wasek, Michael (Pops) Morales, Timothy Morales, Jacob Bartley, Raul Garcia and Edgar Garcia.
