Arthur McCowan, Jr.

Arthur (Junior) McCowan, Jr., age 79, of Boling died Saturday, March 9, 2013 in a Wharton nursing center following a lengthy illness. He was born on February 17, 1934 in Needville, Texas, the son of the late Author, Sr. and Grace Sanders McCowan. Mr. McCowan graduated from Dunbar High School in Dickenson. He served his country honorably in the United States Navy. Junior worked as a truck driver in the Boling area for many years. Junior was a very friendly person who never met a stranger. He was Pentacostal by faith. Following cremation, memorial services will be held on Sunday, March 17, 2013 at 4pm at the chapel of the Wharton Funeral Home. Serving as Honorary pallbearers were John Gary, Brett Chaffin, and Roy Rice. Survivors include his cousins Edna Rice of Texas City and Lois Williams of Boling. Many friends and people he considered his family also survive.
