Mrs. Elsie Mae Duke, age 87 of Wharton died Tuesday, March 19, 2013 in a Sugar Land Hospital following an extended illness. She was born on April 24, 1925 in Damon, TX the daughter of the late Otto John Ramdohr and Roberta Kathleen Weaver Ramdohr. Mrs. Duke has been a resident of Wharton for the past twenty years and was a former long-time resident of Needville. She married Roy Lee Duke on October 9, 1944 in Needville and he preceded her in death on July 26, 2001. She was also preceded in death by three half sisters and two brothers. She was a homemaker all of her life and was a member of College Heights Baptist Church in Wharton. Graveside services and interment were held at 10:00 am Friday, March 22, 2013 at the Damon Public Cemetery in Damon, TX with Rev. Don Hurley officiating. Survivors include her daughter and son-in-law Beverly and Gerard Heffner of Wharton; a grandson, Christopher Heffner of San Antonio and several nieces and nephews. Pallbearers were; Richard Heffner, Gerald Ford, Gerard Heffner, Chris Heffner, Allen Ramdohr and Bo Dilleshaw. Honorary Pallbearers were all of her close friends and neighbors.
