Mr. Edward Paul Konvicka, age 82 of Boling died Thursday, March 28, 2013 in a Houston hospital following a brief illness. He was born in Austin County, TX on January 15, 1931 the son of the late Frank Konvicka, Sr. and Mary Malek Konvicka. Mr. Konvicka has been a resident of Boling for the past fifteen years and was a former long-time resident of Newgulf, TX. He married Ruby Mae Pokrant on June 7, 1951 in Wharton and she preceded him in death on November 29, 1999. He was also preceded in death by a brother, Frank Konvicka, Jr. He was a driller for Texasgulf Sulphur for thirty-five years until is retirement in 1986. He served in the U.S. Air Force during the Korean Conflict. He was Catholic by Faith. Following Cremation, a private memorial service will be held, to be followed by a memorial service for friends and family at a later date. Survivors include his daughters and sons-in-law, Mary Jane and Steve Spacek of Angleton, Debbie Konvicka of Boling and Joyce and E. J. Waligura of Fredericksburg, TX; son and daughter-in-law, Robert and Mary Konvicka of Wharton; sisters and brothers-in-law, Mary Ann and Theo Polasek of Conroe and Lillian and Dan Brod of Wharton; brothers and sisters-in-law, Bennie and Helen Konvicka and Stanley and Bessie Konvicka all of Wharton; four grandchildren and nine great grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews also survive. In lieu of usual remembrances the family requests memorials to Memorial Hermann Hospice or charity of choice. Funeral arrangements were under the direction of the Wharton Funeral Home.
