Dennis Cunningham

Walter Dennis “DD” Cunningham, age 61 of Wharton, passed away on Wednesday, April 3, 2013, at his residence in Burr following an extended illness. He was born on October 24, 1951, in Palacios, Texas, a son of the late Gerald and Clara Jean Armstrong Cunningham. DD was raised in the Wharton area and attended school there. He worked for many years as an airplane mechanic. DD married Barbara Sue (Susie) Mendoza on July 23, 2012 in Las Vegas. He could repair anything you put i front of him. He enjoyed traveling and socializing with friends and family. He especially enjoyed his time teaching his son how to play pool, and any time he got to spend with his family and grandchildren. Following cremation, funeral services will be held at 5pm Saturday April 6 at Wharton Funeral Home with Nathan Muhlhausen officiating. Survivors include his wife, Susie Cunningham of Wharton, son, Brian Cunningham and wife, Melissa of El Toro, daughter, Dayna Wharton and husband, Jasper Scott of Nacgodoches, step children, Morgan Muhlhausen and husband, Nathan of Wharton, Miranda Mendoza and fiancee Dustin Chudalla of Wharton, and America Star Hill and husband Scott of Sugar Land, Sgt Simon Paul Mendoza of Vicenza, Italy, Isreal Mendoza of Wharton and Michael Mendoza of Burr, grandchildren, Alyssa Wharton, Ian Wharton, Cameron Cunningham, Kendall Cunningham, Jimmy Gonzales, Thomas Hill, Kaylie Hodge, Jackson Hodge, Madeline Muhlhausen, Isabelle Muhlhausen and Sophia Muhlhausen, siblings, Susan Price and husband, Rob of Lake Charles, LA, Freddie Cunningham and wife, Barbara of Wharton and James “Bubba” Cunningham and wife, Rosie of Wharton. Honorary pallbearers will be Jimmy Hanka, Frank Samohyl, James Anders, Tom Wearden, Wayne Cook, Freddie Cunningham and Bubba Cunningham.
