Everett Swoboda, age 82 of East Bernard, passed away on Sunday, March 31, 2013, in Wharton following an extended illness. He was born on March 14, 1931, in Nada, Texas a son of the late Hubert Swoboda and Walburga Schneider Swoboda. Everett served our country in the US Navy. He married Dolores Staff in Nada on October 31, 1959. Everett worked as a Welder and Fitter in the Oil Industry. Everett was a member of Holy Cross Catholic Church in East Bernard. Besides his parents, Everett was preceeded in death by grandson Brazos Clements and infant sister, Adeline W. Swoboda. A Funeral Mass was held at 3:00 pm on April 3, 2013 at Holy Cross Catholic Church with Father Robert Guerra officiating. A rosary was recited before Mass. Cremation followed the funeral. Survivors include his wife of 53 years Dolores of East Bernard, daughter, Michelle Swoboda and husband Joe Marcantel of East Bernard, sons, Stephen Swoboda, Daniel Swoboda and wife Carrie, James Swoboda, Paul Swoboda and wife Melissa and Neil Swoboda all of East Bernard, sisters, Ernestine Bubela of Nada, Lillian Albracht of Amarillo, and Carolyn Curtis of Hattisburg, Mississippi, brothers, Lenhart Swoboda and wife JoAnn of Nada, Bill Swoboda and wife Leona of El Campo, John Swoboda and wife Anita of SugarLand, and Marvin Swoboda and wife Linda of Nada, grandchildren, Ashley, Morgan, Taylor, Whitney, Colin, and Paige, and great grandson Clint. Pallbearers were Stephen Swoboda, Daniel Swoboda, James Swoboda, Paul Swoboda, Neil Swoboda, and Joe Marcantel.
