Edward Emil Chumchal, age 92 of College Station, passed away on April 11, 2013 at his residence. He was born on August 30, 1920 in Hungerford, Texas, a son of the late Joe and Mary Knesek Chumchal. Edward was raised in the Wharton-Hungerford area and attended school there. He worked as a row crop farmer and loved the outdoors. He enjoyed fishing, hunting, and gardening. He took pride in feeding his family and friends with vegetables from his garden. A Rosary was recited at 10 am on Friday, April 12, 2013 in the chapel of the Wharton Funeral Home. A graveside service followed at 3 pm at the Wharton Cemetery with Father Dominic Antwi-Boasiako officiating. Survivors include daughters, Jane Chumchal Novosad of College Station, Gail Marino and husband Carl of Fayetteville, Dorothy Kaspar and husband Ted of Brazoria, and Sara Young and husband Steve of Guy. He is also survived by a sister, Mary Kubena of Edna; brothers, Pete Chumchal, Ben Chumchal and wife Ann, Daniel Chumchal, Sr. and wife Clara all of Wharton, and Louis Chumchal of Hungerford, eleven grandchildren and fifteen great grandchildren. Edward was preceded in death by a son, Walter Miller, Jr., a sister, Martha Janik, and a brother, Joe Chumchal, Jr.
