Steven Mark Geminder, age 58, of Wharton, died on April 16, 2013 at a hospital in Sugar Land, after a sudden illness. He was born on June 28, 1954, in New York, New York, son of Herbert Geminder and Bertha Cherry Geminder. Steven had been a resident of Wharton for the past ten years. He graduated from James Madison High School in New York in 1972. He attended Houston Community College and ITT Technical Institute. He had several careers including construction worker, salesman, paralegal, real estate agent, cable installer, and most recently journeyman electrician. His first love was music. He played the bass guitar in several rock and roll bands in his earlier years and toured Europe with one group. He played his bass with the ensemble band for the Plaza Theatre production of Grease several years ago. He is survived by his children, Matthew Aaron Geminder and Allison Ann Geminder of Wharton, his ex-wife, Dr. Henri-Ann Nortman of Wharton, his brother, Stuart Geminder of Tamarac, Florida, and his sister, Gail Miah and husband Mo of Syracuse, New York. He is also survived by numerous nieces, nephews, and great nieces and great nephews. Cremation is being arranged by Wharton Funeral Home. A memorial service will be planned at a later date.
