Dan Medrano, age 93 of Wharton, passed away on Saturday, April 27, 2013, in a Sugar Land hospital following an extended illness. He was born on March 31, 1920, in Manchaca, Texas a son of the late Jose F and Santos Reyes Medrano. Dan married Susie Mora in Bay City on February 5, 1941. Dan worked as a heavy equipment operator for Frazier Construction for many years. He was a member of Mt Carmel Catholic Church in Wharton. Dan enjoyed working and stayed busy creating beautiful gardens of colorful flowers for his wife. Besides his parents, Dan was preceeded in death by his son, Richard, 4 sisters and 7 brothers. A funeral mass will be held at 1 pm on Friday May 3, 2013 at Mt Carmel Catholic Church with Father Gabriel Espinosa officiating. Burial will follow in Evergreen Memorial Park Cemetery. Survivors include his wife of 72 years Susie of Wharton, daughters, Fanny Frausto of Angleton and Mary Medrano of Wharton, sons, Dan Medrano Jr. and wife, Gertrud of Austin, John Joseph Medrano and wife, Linda of Connecticut, and George Medrano and wife, Debora of Pearland, 18 grandchildren, 34 great grandchildren and 4 great great grandchildren.
