Nicklos Gomez, Sr., age 34, of East Bernard and a formerly of Wharton died Friday, May 17, 2013 at his residence following a courageous battle with Leukemia. He was born on September 21, 1978 in Wharton Texas to parents, Johnny Gomez and Nympha Salazar Gomez. Nicklos was raised in Wharton and attended school there. He married Amanda Morales on June 7, 1997 in Wharton. He worked as a painter supervisor for many years, but recently was employed in the Oil and gas industry. Nicklos’ life revolved around his children, watching them grow, cheering their events, and just being a wonderful dad. Funeral services were held at 10:00 am Tuesday, May 21, 2013 at Mount Carmel Catholic Church in Wharton with Deacon David Valdez officiating. Burial followed in the Evergreen Memorial Park Cemetery in Wharton. Survivors include his wife, Amanda Gomez of East Bernard, sons, Nicklos Gomez, Jr., Joshua Gomez, daughter, Mariza Gomez all of East Bernard, parents, Nympha Moctezuma and husband, Moses of Wharton and Johnny Gomez and wife, Sybil of Florida, brothers, John Gomez of El Campo, Moses Moctezuma of Wharton, Christopher Moctezuma and wife, Janie of El Campo, and Christopher Gomez of Florida, sister, Jessica Moctezuma of Wharton, and step sister, Lindsey Gomez of Florida, and numerous aunts, uncles, and cousins. Pallbearers included, John Gomez, Moses Moctezuma, Jr.,, Christopher Moctezuma, Arthur Johnson, Larry Morales, and David Longoria.
