Mildred Ann Ramey, age 80 of Wharton died Tuesday, June 4, 2013 in a Sugar Land hospital following a brief illness. She was born on June 26, 1932 in Portsmouth, Ohio, a daughter of the late Alfred Lilly and Dorothy Pack Lilly. Mrs. Ramey has been a resident of Wharton since June of 1965. She graduated from WCJC in 1969 with her Nursing degree. She married John Thornton Ramey on July 28, 1950 in Portsmouth Ohio. In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by her sisters, Versa, Flossie, and Sarah along with her brothers, John, Dadie, Ray, and Woody. Mildred was a hard worker who enjoyed crafts, the Houston Texans and being with her children and grandchildren. She was Catholic by faith. Funeral services were held at 2:00 pm Saturday, June 8, 2013 at Wharton Funeral Home with Gerald Floyd officiating. Burial followed in Evergreen Memorial Park Cemetery in Wharton. Survivors include sons, Randy Ramey of Wharton, and Darrell Ramey and wife, Debbie of Thompson Station, TN, daughter, Rita Ramey of Wharton, grandchildren, Ashley Dawn Burger and Johnathan Lee Ramey, and great grandchildren, Jake and Lane Frankum. Her sister, Glada also survives. Pallbearers were, Johnny Stanford, Jeff Barker, Johnathan Ramey, Roly Piloto, Mike Feyen and Alan Krenek. Serving as honorary pallbearers were Jake and Lane Frankum.
