Donald Dean Ivy

Donald Dean Ivy, 74, passed away on Saturday, June 22, 2013. He is survived by his wife, Joyce, of 54 years; his sons Ronnie (Selkirk), Michael and wife, Anne (San Antonio); his two grandsons, Matthew and Blake (San Antonio); sister, Faye West (Houston); special pets, Ginger and Clyde; and numerous caring and loving nieces, nephews and cousins. Donald graduated from El Campo High School in 1956 and attended Wharton County Junior College. He retired from the elevator business in Houston, Texas, in 1994 after 35+ years of service. Donald and his wife retired to Selkirk Island, Bay City, Texas, in 1994. Donald was preceded in death by his parents, Jack and Evelyn Taylor Ivy, and sisters, Nelda Koester and Wanda Messersmith. Following cremation, a memorial service will be held on Saturday, June 29, 2013, at 1:00 p.m. at the Wharton Funeral Home, 515 Boling Hwy, Wharton, Texas. The service will be performed by Brother Rick Dubroc, First Baptist Church. In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorials to the Matagorda Fire Dept., 414 Live Oak Road, Matagorda, TX 77457; Houston Hospice, 1905 Holcombe Blvd., Houston, TX 77030; or the charity of personal choice. Death comes in its own time, in its own way. Death is as unique as the individual who is experiencing it.
