Stazie Martha Horelica, age 82 of Wharton died Tuesday, July 16, 2013, at her residence following a lengthy illness. She was born on August 20, 1930 in Hallettsville, Texas, the daughter of the late Paul and Annie Zapalac Drost. Stazie was raised in the Wharton and Hungerford area and attended school there. On June 14, 1949, she married Mr Albert Horelica in Hungerford. He preceded her in death on March 5, 1978. Stazie enjoyed mowing the yard, tending her flower beds, making kolaches and homemade noodles. She was a member of Holy Family Catholic Church in Wharton and a member of the Catholic Daughters of America. In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by her daughter in law, Patricia Horelica. Visitation was held on Thursday, July 18, 2013 from 6 till 9 pm, at the chapel of Wharton Funeral Home with the Parish Rosary at 7 pm. Funeral services were at 10:30 am Friday, July 18, 2013 at Holy Family Catholic Church in Wharton with Father Bob Knippenberg officiating. Burial followed in Evergreen Memorial Park Cemetery in Wharton. Serving as pallbearers were Albert Horelica, III, Chad Horelica, Todd Horelica, Raymond Horelica, Jr., David Zapalac and Scott Kolbe. Survivors include her sons, Albert Horelica Jr. and wife, Bernadette of Wharton, Harvey Horelica and wife, Gloria of Richmond and William Horelica of Wharton, grandchildren, Albert III, Shelley, Amy, Chad, Todd, Abby, Becky, Meghan and Kelly, and 9 great grandchildren with one on the way.
