Sergio Alvarado-Rodriguez

Mr. Sergio Alvarado-Rodriguez, age 67 of Glen Flora, TX, passed away on Wednesday July 17, 2013 at his residence following a lengthy illness. He was born on March 18, 1946 in Monterrey, Nuevo Leon, Mexico, a son of Simon and Lucilla Alvarado-Rodriguez. Mr. Alvarado has been a resident of the Alvin area since the 1960s. He has lived in Glen Flora since 1982. Sergio worked as a pipeline operator for many years. He enjoyed shooting pool, fishing, BBQing, cooking and making hot sauce. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his son, Alvino Mata. A Rosary will be recited Sunday evening, July 21, at 7 pm at the Wharton Funeral Home and a Funeral Mass will be held at 10:00 am Monday, July 22, 2013 at Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Catholic Church with Father Gabriel Espinosa officiating. Burial will follow in the Glen Flora Cemetery in Wharton. Pallbearers will be Michael Lopez, Henry Lares, Eutimio Benavides, Anthony Perez, Jr., A.J. Wasek and Jacob Bartley. Survivors include his wife, Anita Gonzales of Glen Flora, daughters, Nora Mata of Wharton, Nancy Gutierrez and husband, Martin of Wharton, Otilia Gonzalez and husband, Jessie of Alvin, sons, Michael Lopez of Houston and Danny Miller and wife, Chelsea of Mansfield, sisters, Patricia Silva and husband, Samuel, Socorro Fernandez and husband, Ricardo, Gracelia Lares and husband, Enrique, Gloria Delgado and husband, Jorge, Lucy Argelia and Eutimio Benavides, Guadalupe Garza and husband, Teofilo, brothers, Francisco Alvarado and Abelardo Alvardo and wife, Concepcion, 14 grandchildren and 1 great grandchild, along with his beloved dog, Bobby.
