Mr. Sidney Coleman Border, age 70 of Wharton, died Saturday, July 20, 2013 in a Wharton Hospital following a lengthy illness. He was born on December 20, 1942 in Hungerford, Texas a son of the late William Alexander and Ludy Goodlett Border. Mr. Border was a lifelong resident of Wharton County. He worked as a line inspector for Southwestern Bell Telephone for many years, but his true passion was hunting and guiding hunting trips. Many days were spent a field on the Hungerford Prairie and at Pierce Ranch. Sidney was a very sociable person, as he was seen many days visiting with friends at Fibbers Café with his coffee club. In addition to his parents, his brother, William Alexander Border, Jr. and his former wife, Brenda Border, preceded him in death. According to Sid’s wishes, a graveside service was held on Tuesday evening at 6 pm at the Real McCoy Ranch Cemetery on the Hungerford Prairie with Mr. Mickey Reynolds officiating. Survivors include his son, Steven Border and wife, Lacy of Wharton, stepdaughter, Cara Braune of Wharton, and grandchildren, Layla Kenlea Border and Savage Cameron Border. Many cousins and friends also survive.
