Mickey Maxine Miller

Fleta Maxine Miller, age 82 of Wharton and formerly of Louise died Saturday, August 10, 2013 in Cuero following a brief illness. She was born on September 12, 1930 in Spur Texas, a daughter of the late Paul Earl and Mary Lucy Elkins Reid Mickey was raised in Levelland and graduated from school there. She then attended and graduated from the University of Corpus Christi with a bachelor’s degree. On November 29, 1956, she married Tom Brown Miller Sr. in Cal Allen, Texas. He preceded her in death on January 31, 1998. Mickey worked for many years alongside her husband at Louise ISD. She taught Health classes along with coaching volleyball and girl’s basketball. After moving to Wharton in 1998, Mickey volunteered at Gulf Coast Medical Center for many years. She was a member of College Heights Baptist Church for many years. In addition to her parents and husband, she was also preceded in death by her sister, Joy Green and brother, Zach Ried. Funeral services will be held at 3:00pm Monday, August 12, 2013 at the chapel of the Wharton Funeral Home with Rev. Don Hurley officiating. Burial will follow in St. Procopius Cemetery in Louise. Pallbearers include Mike Braden, James Holik, Bill Rowland, Greg Allen, Chad Miller and Steve Henderson. Survivors include her son, Tom Brown Miller Jr. and wife, Evonne of Yoakum, daughter, Elizabeth Miller Whitlow of Kemah, sister, Peggy Ann Rhyne of Mathis Lake, brother, Jim Ried of Idalou and grandchildren, Chyrisse Miller, Chad Miller, Brooke Allen, Taylor Allen, and Nicholas Whitlow. She is also survived by many cousins and friends
