Lyle Robert Lannen, age 83 of Hungerford, passed away Saturday morning, August 17, 2013 at his residence following a sudden illness. He was born on December 26, 1929 in Stillwater County, Montana, a son of the late George and Edna Hudson Lannen. Mr. Lannen graduated from high school in Absarokee Mt. He worked as a ranch hand for many years and was self-employed as a cattle hauler for many years. Lyle participated in rodeos for many years, excelling in heading and healing. He enjoyed riding horses, telling jokes, a good cup of coffee and flirting with women. Lyle was a member of the Wharton County Sheriffs Posse. He was Baptist by faith. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his grandson, Derek Shaw. Visitation will be held on Tuesday evening from 6 till 9 pm at Wharton Funeral Home with funeral services held at 10:00 am, Wednesday, August 21 at the Chapel of Wharton Funeral Home. Cremation will follow. Survivors include his son, Curt Lannen and wife, Bethany of Hallettsville, daughters, Caleen Moffett and husband, Roy of Hungerford and Sharon Williams and husband, Donald of West Columbia, step-daughter, Debbie Howe of Old Ocean, brother, Walter Lannen and wife, Sharon of Houston, grandchildren, Dan and Clint Lannen, Dusty and Kelly Nice, Somer Moffett, Justin and Brandon Bonewald, Bret Williams, Cole Harrison and Devon Garza, great grandchildren, Finley McCarthy, McKenna and Brighton Lannen, Gabriel Shaw, Alissa, Trey, and Kayla Garza.
