Geneva R.”Veva” Garza July 10, 1933 – September 10, 2013 Ms. Geneva R.”Veva” Garza, age 80 of Wharton passed away on Tuesday, September 10, 2013 in a Wharton hospital following a brief illness. She was born on July 10, 1933 in Ganado, TX to the late Luis Ramirez, Sr. and Esther Driscoll Ramirez. Ms. Garza was a life-long resident of Wharton County and a member of Philadelphia Pentecostal Church in Bay City, TX. On October 2, 1951, she married Albert Garza, Jr. in Wharton, TX. She enjoyed her time raising her family and being a homemaker. She was also dedicated to serving the Lord and enjoyed going to church with her family. In addition to her parents, Geneva was preceded in death by her husband, Albert Garza, Jr., her son, Eugene R. Garza and sister, Mary Montalvo. Prayer services for Ms. Garza will be held on Sunday, September 15, 2013, from 7pm-9pm at the Wharton Funeral Home with Pastor Enrique Brito officiating. Funeral services will be held on Monday, September 16, 2013, at 9 am at Wharton Funeral Home and burial will follow at Evergreen Memorial Cemetery. Survivors include, daughters, Stella Cruz of Denton, Evelina Pina of Wharton, Debra Arias and husband, Sam Arias Jr. of Wharton, and Sandra Gangstad of Boling. Sons, Robert R. Garza and wife, Anita of Wharton, Albert Garza, III, and wife, Pat of Boling and Kenneth R. Garza of Boling. Daughter- n- law, Irma B. Garza of Wharton. Survivors also include brothers, Guadalupe Ramirez, Sr. and Luis Ramirez, Jr. Sisters, Consuelo Hernandez, Josephina Gonzales, Virginia Garcia and husband, Daniel Garcia, Delores Vargas and husband, Victor Vargas, Carol Guzman-Rojas and husband, Alfred Rojas and Julia Ramirez. Twenty-seven grandchildren and twenty-nine great grandchildren also survive. Pallbearers are Sam Arias, III, Kenneth Garcia, Jason Gangstad, Victor Delgado, Thomas Sedillo, and Joshua Garza.
