Zula Wearden

Zula Esther Wearden, age 93 of Wharton, Texas passed away Wednesday, October 2, 2013 at a Houston nursing home following a lengthy illness. She was born on June 29, 1920 in Glen Flora, Texas to the late, Ed and Lova Heikes Wearden. Zula grew up in the Glen Flora area and graduated from Wharton High School. Zula supervised Medical Records at Rugely Blasingame Clinic for many years. She was recognized as “Women of the Year” by her professional peers. Zula enjoyed having many dear friends in her work and worship at Holy Family Catholic Church. She devoted her life to helping others and will be missed. Visitation was held on Friday evening, October 4, at the chapel of Wharton Funeral Home from 5 till 730 pm. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 pm Saturday, October 5, 2013 at Holy Family Catholic Church in Wharton with Rev. Bob Knippenberg officiating. A parish rosary will be recited at 1:30 pm at the church. Burial will follow in Wharton Cemetery. Survivors include her brother, Paul Wearden of Richardson, TX, two sisters in law and fifteen nieces and nephews Memorial contributions can be made to Holy Family Church at 2011 Briar Lane, Wharton, TX 77488. Funeral services were conducted under the direction of the Wharton Funeral Home.
