Verlie Selvin Sherill

Verlie Selvin Sherrill Verlie S, Sherrill, age 95 of Wharton passed away Thursday, October 24, 2013. Funeral service were held at 2:00 p.m. Monday October 28th at Wharton Funeral Home Chapel. Visitation was from 5-7:00 p.m. Sunday at Wharton Funeral Home. Burial was held at Wharton Cemetery. He was born May 8, 1918 to Charlie and Stella Stewart Sherrill in Scott County Arkansas . Mr. Sherrill was well known Barber in Wharton and owned his on shop for over 65 years. Verlie was also a member of First Presbyterian Church in Wharton. Verlie married Helen Waters in 1939 in Wharton and was a faithful husband for almost 75 years. Mr Sherrill is preceded in death by a daughter Retha O’Quinn Sherrill in 2009. Survivors include his wife Helen Sherrill, Son Verlie Sherrill Jr. of Wharton, Sisters Lessie B Kocurek, and Charlene Kocurek, brothers Harold and James Sherrill, Grandchildren Jeannie Suhr, David Wayne Suhr Jr., Sherri Scheffer, Todd Sherrill, Kelly Burke, and Allison Noriega, 8 Great Grandchildren, and 1 Great- Great Grandchild . In lieu of flowers donations can be made to First Presbyterian Church of Wharton. Funeral arrangements are under the direction of the Wharton Funeral Home.
