Bernard Gabriel Morris, age 87 of Wharton, TX died Tuesday, November 12, 2013 in a Houston hospital following a brief illness. He was born on March 24, 1926 in East Bernard, a son of the late August B. and Frances Faltisek Morris. Bernard was raised in East Bernard and graduated from East Bernard High School. He served our country in the United States Air Force during WWII. He obtained the rank of S SGT. After he was honorably discharged, he married Adella Rachunek on October 29, 1946 in Hungerford, Texas. Bernard worked for Texasgulf as a Logging Engineer and later as a Field Service Office Clerk for 33 years until his retirement in 1986. He enjoyed fishing, gardening and watching sports especially his Astros. Many family gatherings would find him tending the BBQ pit. He was a member of the Knights of Columbus and St Johns Catholic Church in Hungerford. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his step-mothers, Josephine Morris and Dorothy Vecera and son, Robert Wayne Morris. Funeral services were held at 10:00 am Friday, November 15, 2013 at St John Catholic Church in Hungerford with Rev. Charles Dwomoh officiating. Burial followed in St Johns Catholic Cemetery in Hungerford. Survivors include his wife of 67 years, Adella Morris of Wharton, daughter, Susan Rothwell of Industry, sister, Shirley Ann Minks of East Bernard and brother John Morris and wife Margie of Buffalo and numerous nephews, nieces, great nephews and great nieces.
