John Baca, age 81 of Wharton, Texas died Friday morning, December 27, 2013. He was born on March 13, 1932 in Wharton County, Texas a son of the late William J. and Bessie Wasicek Baca. John was raised and attended school in the Boling Newgulf area. He joined the United States Marine Corps in 1952 and fought in Vietnam. After obtaining the rank of Lance Corporal, he received his honorable discharge on February 14, 1960, after his duty in the Reserves. John was employeed with Texasgulf as a station operator for over 38 years. He enjoyed fishing, boating, travel, relaxing and a good game of dominoes. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brothers, George and Fred Baca. John is survived by his daughters, Michele Archer and husband, Wayne of Boling and Lynn Kulak and husband, Thomas of Lane City, sister, Ruthie Jochec of Rosenberg, grandchildren, Jonathan Kulak and wife, Andrea, Samantha Mason, Whitney Kulak and fiancee Dusty Ortiz, Chelsea Mason, Dylan Mason and wife, April and Sydney Archer, and great grandchildren, Emily Sosa, Summer Ortiz and Banker Kulak. Visitation was held on Monday evening from 7:00 til 9 pm at Wharton Funeral Home. Graveside services were be held on Tuesday, December 31 at 3:00 pm at Evergreen Memorial Park Cemetery.
