Felix Reyes, Sr, age 87 of Georgetown and formerly of Wharton died Sunday morning, December 29, 2013. He was born on March 31, 1927 in Glen Flora, Texas and the son of the late Pablo and Thomasa Aguilar Reyes. Felix was raised in Wharton and lived there the majority of his life. He married Paulina Limas on September 18, 1948 at Holy Family Catholic Church. . She preceded him in death on February 20, 2003. In his former years Felix was employeed in agriculture in Wharton, moved to Galveston briefly where he worked as a longshoreman, then returned to his native Wharton, worked for the City of Wharton, and later road construction for many years. He enjoyed being with his family and visiting with the town locals. In addition to his parents and wife, he was preceded in death by his brothers, Camilo and Carlos Reyes of El Campo and sisters, Lydia Salcedo from Houston, Elosia Garcia of East Bernard and Adelia Barron of Rosenberg.. He has one surviving sister, Sofia Valdez, of Bay City. Felix is survived by his eldest daughter, Mary Trevino and husband Pete Trevino of Bay City, Felix Jr and wife Diana of El Campo, Juan Reyes and wife Florence Reyes of Rosenberg, and Gloria Reyes and husband John Ball of Georgetown. He had 12 grandchildren, 29 great grandchildren and 5 great-great grandchildren. He and Paulina also raised one grandchild; Sandy Reyes, and two great grandchildren; Tiffany and Christopher Reyes. Visitation will be held on Wednesday evening from 3 til 7 pm at Wharton Funeral Home with a rosary recieted at 7 pm. Funeral Mass will be held on Thursday, January 2, 2014 at 10 am at Holy Family Catholic Church in Wharton with Rev. Bob Knippenberg officiating. Burial will be held at Evergreen Memorial Park Cemetery in Wharton. Pallbearers will be Lonnie Winston, Christopher Reyes, Curtis Myles, Christopher Acuna, Ruben Martinez, Michael Guerra, Abundio and Joe Munoz.
