Pedro “Pete” A Salazar On January 15, 2014, Pedro “Pete” A Salazar, age 72, of Wharton, Texas, quietly passed away following a brief illness at Memorial Hermann Hospital Sugar Land. He was born June 27, 1941, in Brownsville, TX to the late Francisco and Candelaria Aleman Salazar. He was married to Andrea Perales in June 1962, and they lived their lives together in Wharton. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his sons; Henry Salazar and Peter Salazar, sisters; Sara Salazar and Ramona Llanes, and brothers Johnny Salazar, Manuel Salazar and Lupe Salazar. Pete had been a longtime resident of Wharton. Pete was an Operator for Wharton County Precinct #1. He drove a maintainer for more than 35 years. He liked to visit with his many friends and family. He loved to play Bingo and buy Lottery tickets. He enjoyed dancing and being outside. He liked mowing his yard especially with his push mowers and maintaining his flowerbeds. A Rosary will be recited on Monday evening January 20th at 7 p.m. at Wharton Funeral Home and a and Funeral Mass will be held at 10 a.m., January 21, 2014, at Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Catholic Church with Rev. Gabriel Espinosa officiating. Burial will follow at Evergreen Memorial Cemetery. Serving as pallbearers were Ely Enriquez, Steve Salazar, Bubba Brosche, Clinton Dickerson, Richard Cordero, Daniel Gonzales and Manuel Salazar. Honorary pallbearers were Henry and Peter Salazar. Survivors include his sons, Jerry Salazar and wife, Carolyn of Bay City, Phil Salazar and wife Dolores of Wharton, daughters, Irma Salazar of Santa Fe and Julie Trigo of Santa Fe, Tx and Delores “Byrd” Salazar of East Bernard and Carrie Grigar of East Bernard, grandchildren Ryan Lee Salazar, James, Shawn & Shannon Newman, Henry Salazar Jr., Jerry Salazar Jr., Kimberly and Kelsey Salazar and 3 Great Grandchildren. His sisters, Lupita Cordero, Panchita Llanes and brothers, Pablo Salazar, Steve Salazar, Henry Salazar and his twin Pallo Salazar also survive. His close friend Paul Wasecek and his co-workers at Wharton County Precinct 1 will also miss him. Funeral services were under the direction of the Wharton Funeral Home.
