Dorothy Lee Segrest, 86, of Wharton, Texas, passed away Monday, January 27th, 2014, following a short illness at a Wharton nursing center. She was born August 28,1927, in Japonica, Texas to parents Aaron Denton and Pearl May Baker Graham. Dorothy married Guy Walker Segrest, Jr. in George West Texas in 1943. He preceded her in death on January 4, 1975. She worked as a florist for many years, becoming the manager at Marvins’ Flowers. Dorothy loved fishing, playing bingo, dominoes, playing cards, especially Skip Bo and being with her friends and family. In addition to her parents and husband, Dorothy was preceded in death by her son, Gaylan Segrest, sisters, Lola Mae DeRossier, Nora Chipman, Joyce Kane, and brother, Clarence Graham. She is survived by her sons, Gary Segrest and wife, Jan of Hot Springs, Ar, Gerald Wayne (Birdie) Segrest and wife, Belinda of Sherman, Tx, and Grayson Segrest and wife, Mariel of Houston, daughter in law, Diane Segrest of East Bernard, grandchildren, Jeni Davidson and husband, Brian, Katie Segrest, Kris Segrest and wife, Amy, Gina Cooper and husband, Daniel, Geremy Segrest, Ginger Genof, Gabriel Winston Segrest and Sophia Segrest, great grandchildren, Denver and Ava Davidson, Rook and Molly Segrest, Ruthie and Lucy Cooper, Bryce Segrest and Reece Genoff. She is also survived by her longtime friend and caregiver, Ann Chudalla. Funeral services were held Thursday, January 30, 2014 at 2 p.m. at the chapel of Wharton Funeral Home in Wharton with Kris Segrest officiating. Burial followed in the Evergreen Memorial Park Cemetery in Wharton. Serving as pallbearers were Gabriel Segrest, Kris Segrest, Daniel Cooper, Wade Kane, Paul Kane and Gus Kane.
