Evelyn Ullmann, 72, of Wharton, Texas, passed away Saturday, February 15th, 2014. Evelyn was born November 2, 1941 in Frelsburg, Texas a daughter of the late Remi and Marie Mrkwa Halfmann. Evelyn was raised in the Frelsburg area and graduated from St John Catholic School in Fayetteville. She married Irvin Ullmann on October 15, 1967 in Frelsburg, Texas. Evelyn worked as an Administrative Assistant in the Vocational Education Department for Wharton ISD for 34 years, retiring in 2012. For many years, she was very active in 4H and FFA with her children. Evelyn enjoyed sewing as well as baking, especially cheese rolls and cookies. She was a member of the Catholic Daughters of America, and served on the Fellowship Committee in her church, Holy Family Catholic Church. Evelyn and Irvin were members of the Wharton County Youth Fair Board from 1978 until 2011, serving many terms as Awards Banquet chairmen. She is survived by her husband of 46 years, Irvin Ullmann of Wharton, daughters, Joan McElveen and husband, Les of Mt Pleasant, and Lauren Mican and husband, Braden of Wharton, son, Stephen Ullmann and wife, Lacey of Rosenberg, sister, Regina Zientek of Brenham, grandchildren, Raime McElveen, Jacey McElveen, Tanner Ullmann and she was expecting another grandson, Tyson Mican soon. Visitation will be held on Sunday evening, February 16 at Holy Family Catholic Church, 2011 Briar Lane, Wharton Texas 77488 starting after 6pm with rosary recited at 7pm. Funeral services will be held on Monday, February 17 at 2pm with Rev. Bob Knippenberg and Rev. Dominic Antwi Boasiako celebrating, with Deacon David Valdez and Deacon Alvin Matthis assisting. Burial will follow in Evergreen Memorial Park Cemetery in Wharton. Serving as pallbearers are Patrick Zientek, Darryl Kainer, Dwayne Mrkwa, Darren Mrkwa, Alton Hartfield, Clayton Ullmann, Jon Joines and David Dusek.
