Elizabeth Sue Brown, age 89 of Wharton died Friday evening, February 28, 2014 at a Wharton nursing center following a lengthy illness. She was born on June 19, 1924 in Wharton, a daughter of the late Frank and Johnnie Norris Hobbs. Elizabeth was a raised in the Wharton area and graduated from Wharton High School. She later attended business college in Houston. She married Robert Louis Brown in Wharton on March 6, 1946. Elizabeth enjoyed children. She even became a cafeteria cook, and worked in Iago and Alief. She enjoyed taking care of other peoples needs. Elizabeth was the second female in the state of Texas to earn her pilots license. She was Presbyterian by faith. Following cremation, memorial services will be held on Wednesday, March 5, 2014 at 10 am with Rev. Clyde Grier officiating at Wharton Funeral Home. Survivors include her daughters, Margaret Tyrone and husband, Anthony of Wharton, and Julia Bram and husband, Willie of New Mexico, sons, Richard Brown and wife, Tandi Lynn of Mesa AZ, Robert Brown Jr. and wife, Carol of Abilene, and Arthur Brown and wife, Suzanne of Mesa AZ, sister, Mary Louise Matula of Wharton, 12 grandchildren and 15 great grandchildren also survive.
