Robert "Bobby" Frank Macek, Sr., 69, of Wharton, Texas, passed away Monday, March 17, 2014, following a short illness at a Bay City hospital. He was born January 16, 1945, in Pierce, Texas to parents Joe and Albina Maly Macek. Robert was raised in the Wharton area and attended Boling schools and Catholic school in Nebraska. He married Nellie Konvicka on April 4, 1964 in Wharton. He was the owner/ operator of Macek’s Garage for over 47 years. He enjoyed playing cards, drag racing, and rodeo breakaway roping. His favorite pastime was hunting. He was a member of Holy Family Catholic Church and the Wharton Knights of Columbus, 3rd degree. He is survived by his wife, Nellie Macek of Wharton, son, Robert Macek Jr of Boling, daughter, Vickie Macek of Bellville, sister, Evelyn Kramr and husband, Frank of East Bernard, brothers, Joe Macek and wife, Adeline and Marvin Macek and wife, Brenda both of Wharton, grandchildren, Ahsly Macek, Dakoda Leopold, Jamie Macek and Todd Macek. Visitation will be held Wednesday, March 19, 2014 after 6pm with a rosary held at 7pm at the chapel of Wharton Funeral Home. The funeral service will be held on Thursday, March 20, 2014 at 10 am at Holy Family Catholic Church in Wharton with Rev. Ty Bazaar officiating. Burial will follow in Evergreen Memorial Park Cemetery in Wharton. Serving as pallbearers are Marvin “Binky” Macek, Billy Macek, Donald Macek, Wes Guerra, David Long, and Timmy Barker.
